Ignorance ...

I have recently realized the embarrassing fact that I almost know NOTHING about the modern history of Iran.
I never took school history courses seriously, and even if I wanted to, I could hardly ever trust the textbooks whose authors had proudly been involved in the Iran Hostage Crisis back in 1979.

But this is still not a good excuse. We had a huge book shelf in our house, full of history books written by renowned Persian and European historians. My fault, as I see it, is that I never got myself educated in that area even though I had the chance.

Anyways, I've decided that this shall not be the trend from now on, and luckily I've found this interesting program on BBC Radio 4, it's called Uncovering Iran. I think it's an informative and to some extent reliable source. It may be a good head start to set me free from my ignorance.
