This was probably the most over-rated event I have ever been to. Just like all other Toronto festivals, it was just a bunch of people out on the streets, with no extra-ordinary event to watch ... Most of the pictures I took yesterday, are no different from what I would take on a normal night out. And the art performances were nothing that special. The only thing worth watching was Toronto's City Hall, where they've turned its windows to mimic pixels of a giant interactive LED display.

The rest of the performances were just people TRYING SO HARD to be artists ... that's what really annoys me about artists sometimes ... well ... sometimes art comes out naturally, and in fact it does act as such a smooth medium to pass a message ... when that is the case, when the point of an art work, be it a piece of music, a painting, a sculpture, or even a setting is really to pass a message, then the art itself becomes very interesting ... there're times though, that you see an artist trying to produce art, just for the sake of having something to demonstrate, ... in other words they haven't really thought of the message they want to convey through their artwork, but all they have thought about is to demonstrate something ... weird I guess ... that sometimes becomes just unbearable ... Like the girl at the recital hall was playing on a mini-piano ... she wasn't really playing the instrument though, she was just making some noise, acting as if she's playing Liszt transcription of Schubert's Standchen ... haha ... and I don't think I understood what the other one was doing up there ...

Probably the one and only event worth watching was a concert by a young electric string band, I forgot their name, doctor something ... don't remember... but that was one incredible performance, the electric violinist was awesome, only I wish I'd bought their CD. :(
I think the main problem with the event, other than the poor information/guidance centers, was that it wasn't condensed at just one location ... it was spread out in three zones, and even each zone itself was fairly wide, you would endup walking long distances without seeing much of an art work ...
Anyways, for those of you who were not in TO, you didn't miss out, no worries :P
